Runyon Canyon Hike

Dowtown LA in distance, and me as a native San Diegan in denial at Lindsay's Dodgers cap.
Recently we went for another urban hike in one our favorite LA spots, Runyon Canyon, which somehow combines almost all of the top things we like to see in one scenic location:  Spectacular views? Check. Native flora and fauna? Check.  Dogs? Check.  Amazing people watching? Check.  And, its actually a pretty good workout too.

Oh, and there is that thing about this being LA and the possibility of celebrities showing up:
Nestled in the Hollywood Hills is Runyon Canyon, a haven of celebrity exercise fanatics and people desperate to get discovered while hiking with their dogs . . . (moviefone.com)
In other words, you have likely seen pictures from there in your favorite celeb media, or more recently, in 'Funny People' when they go for a hike.  As moviefone continues:
. . . And for a few particularly star-studded days last December, it was also a location for filming 'Funny People,' Judd Apatow's latest flick . . . Closing down Runyon Canyon completely is almost impossible -- and incredibly expensive. So Universal posted a warning sign, stating that people could be filmed if they entered the park. Unfortunately, in L.A., all those "casual exercisers" view a sign like that as practically an inscribed invitation. By the end of the day, with the word out, the canyon was full of wannabe actors, "hiking" in circles and trying to get their dogs to make an "impromptu" introduction with the cast.
We did not see any celebrities on this trip, but plenty of dogs, and some great wildlflowers in bloom.
Bush Sunflower, or Encelia californica for those of the botanical inclination, in bloom on the foothills.
Looking across Runyon Canyon across West Hollywood to Downtown LA.
Looking west towards Lindsay's office in Century City, our house in Venice, and the great big ocean.
Oh yeah, the hike also has a view off to the Hollywood sign.
